I was drawn in from the beginning and was not disappointed! Critical Mass in an engaging, thought-provoking read, full of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Late-term abortion is a tough issue to tackle. In one room, they fight to save the life of a "baby" born prematurely. In another, they remove the "mass" because of the mother's choice. What is the difference between the "baby" and the "mass"? Simply the thoughts of the mother. Does it change the truth? NO. They are both LIFE in the eyes of God. Our self-deception does not change the truth. How I wish there was a place like Limbo and people with the heart and resources to save these children.God bless you, Susan Howard, for taking a stand and bringing this issue out of the dark!

Critical Mass edition by Susan A Howard Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I could not put this book down! I read it in a couple of days and appreciate her honest approach to writting about a very senstive topic. This story would make an excellent movie on the big screen as well! I hope to see it soon! I would also LOVE to read more work by Susan Howard in the near future.
This book was unlike any read I've ever had. It was sobering to think\know this type of thinking and dehumanizing activity takes place. We are supposed to be a "progressive" world and to me, this type of human destruction sets us back to before Christ!
This was a book that got you thinking, despite where you might stand on abortion. It was quite gripping, had the required amount of twists and turns and unexpected events that kept you hooked. It also made you wonder about the government's anti-terrorism unit, and how much evidence they need before they launch an attack.
I've decided that for this review I am just going to make a list of the good and the bad.
The good
-The author did a good job in describing the characters and places.
-The book really picked up and my interest grew when Morgan arrived at the Limbo complex.
-I liked the Morgan's character growth as he interacts with the people at Limbo.
The bad
-The beginning was kind of confusing because of the switch in time.
-The author never stated when there was a passing of time or a flashback so the reader had to basically figure it out on their own. This made the whole first half of the book confusing to me.
-At points this book became very preachy and propaganda-like.
-Some of the dialogue of the African American characters was stereotypical and verged on offensive a bit.
-The press conference that took place in the book was unrealistic. There is no way that the FBI would give out all that info to the press (i.e. giving a list of witnesses, telling the press what they will charge the suspect with before they even charge him).
So basically the bad kind of outweighed the good in this book. I picked this up for free on and probably wouldn't spend any money on this book. I personally would not recommend this book to anyone.
It always amazes me how creative people are in storytelling. This is a brave and challenging look at our death culture. It left me with mixed emotions of sorrow and hope. I read it in one sitting. Couldn't put it down till the end. Adding dates to the chapters for editing would have helped with the timeline.
Ms. Howard has given us a riveting drama. It is based on the established practice of killing babies in the one place they should be the safest, their mother's womb. The heros of this excellently-written novel are flawed humans beings but the author helps us realize the we can all make a difference, even in our imperfections.
I REALLY ENJOYED READING YOUR BOOK. It really deserves talking about. MY first grandchild was delivered at 27 weeks. SHe weighed 1 1/2 pounds. She had a 10 percent survival rate. She just turned 17. A fantastic person. I myself was premature and was born In 1942. My twin a boy survived three days.
I was unwanted and there were four more siblings born after me; leaving a total of 12 children in my family.
I am thankful for my survival and the survival of my first grandchild.
Babies are aborted at 27 weeks...this is a disgrace for the human population.
Thank you.
